A Japanese-style painter known for the Bijin-ga (paintings chiefly for beautiful women). His Bijin-ga shows not only the beauty of Japanese modern, but also the one which come from the Ukiyo-e or the culture itself in the Edo period. That let him play an importance of establishment of Japanese modern genre-paintings. And he is famous for creating paintings of lives for common people especially after World War II.
